Transafe Services Limited (formerly INDIAN CONTAINER LEASING COMPANY LIMITED) began operations in 1991 as a joint venture between Balmer Lawrie & Co. Ltd., India’s largest manufacturer of freight containers, and the ICICI Group, comprising some of India’s leading financial institutions.

Innovator and pacesetter

TSL is a pioneer in promoting containerised cargo movement in India - starting with industrial and commercial goods and later stretching to domestic cargoes as well. With a view to speeding up the process of containerisation, in 1994 TSL introduced automatic exchange of containers between large customers. Besides, customers also have the facility of instant replacement of containers from any of the depots located in all metros.

TSL is also responsible for introducing the concept of Operating Lease of containers to Corporate houses, transporters, individuals and rail based container movement. TSL has extended its market offering from sale and lease of containers to hire purchase of trucks and container handling equipment.

In its 15 years of operation, TSL has come a long way, partnering major logistics specialists from Railways besides top-notch transport and shipping companies and many corporate houses.

TSL has developed a number of container designs to facilitate transportation of a wide range of goods and commodities. These include High Cube, Side Access, Bulktainer, Bitutainer, Tanktainer, etc. to name a few.
